Project Baseline empowers passionate citizens to observe and record change within the world’s aquatic environments in a way that fosters public awareness and supports political action.

PROJECT BASELINE: STRANGFORD LOUGH

We have been diving The Lough on a regular basis for around 5 years, and have noticed various changes throughout this time period. However, we have had no way of monitoring these changes; until now.

The areas within The Lough we will be looking at are:

  1. Ballyhenry Bay
  2. "The Inner Lees" wreck
  3. "The Pins" wreck
  4. Ringhaddy Sound
  5. MY Alastor wreck

The objectives of Project Baseline: Strangford Lough are:

  • Ongoing monitoring of the marine life and the condition of three popular wrecks
  • To remove any waste from the marine environment and encourage the public to care for the lough.
  • Work in collaboration with others to increase awareness of the biodiversity of the marine life.
  • Inform the CEDaR of sightings of ‘priority’ Species.
  • Publish data collected through Google Earth

Divers can submit observation logs to the team by completing the Observation Log Form.
